Below - Just a few examples of student groups in "Facebook." Notice that these student groups on Facebook say that they are "global." And if you check-out their student reach, they are truly all over the world. Relationships and connections can stay in place with daily, weekly, monthly, yearly contact depending on personal preference. And still the group of friends stays intact and available to immediately look up and update one's self to know how individuals are doing in their lives before contacting them. I am watching students understand and rely upon social networking sites to not have to lose their friends by virtue of distance or limits of time and space. I am also watching them make new friends virtually though larger constituencies such as the Historically Black Colleges groups listed below. Think about it. How is your college or college related group, student activities, or student conference helping the folks keep in contact before, during and afterwards and building up online mentors for the next groups of participants?
